Easter Walk 2012

On Easter Sunday the weather was beautiful for our family Easter walk. We usually try to take a group shot of the kids. One year we did the "album cover" pose on a fallen tree trunk and after that we have gone back to the same spot to recreate it.

Heading out...
Peter and Matt on the tree.  Elsa waiting; she knows the drill....

Everybody looks great...dogs paying attention...and ugh! Peter is focused on a branch...
Final shot.
This year was a little bit different and a lot of fun. We had the first annual Epic Easter Egg Hunt. Our oldest son and his wife took it upon themselves to hide 100+ eggs all over the farm. They spent a lot of time preparing and they even printed maps with labeled fields and numbered eggs. We had about 75 acres of ground mapped out, divided into eight sections. When we found our eggs we were to text back and give the field letter and egg number. It was very organized and we only lost a couple of eggs which we suspect were taken by raccoons anyway.
Getting ready to begin...checking the maps...

I soon found myself alone in one of our hilly fields and thought I was doing great when I found 6 eggs on my own.  Until, that is,  I met up with Ashley at the treehouse she let me know that I had less than half of what everybody else had.  Bummer.  No prizes for me.
Egg-on-a-pole...makes them much easier to see
After that the dogs and I went back to the house and hopped into the SUV and went out again.  I was tired!  Apparently everyone else was getting  worn out to because suddenly people were flagging me down to pick them up.

Only a couple more eggs to go...

The eventual winner, Matt, giving us a clue about where we might find the last of the eggs....
Heading back to the house....We had a great time and look forward to doing it again next year!

How funny that even the raccoons got in on the Easter egg hunt. Looks like everyone had a fun time. Great family picture.
