Shopping Vintage on a Friday Afternoon...

I have been lying around like a vegetable for two days, after having some minor surgery on my gums this week.  They said take it easy and I sure did, but I was restless and I thought I might brave the cold and go to town today.  The tricky part was not smiling, because normally I tend to smile and greet people that I meet.  But ick, if I smiled today I might have given some poor stranger a bit of a fright.  Stitches and all that....

I ended up doing a pursed lip smile, which made me look, I think, a little bit like the old Dana Carvey SNL character, the Church Lady.

So after leaving the comfort of my cozy room and my warm house with the toasty woodstoves, I headed off to meander around the antique store downtown. My youngest daughter came along with me.
...the cozy room...
After browsing through lots of doilies and linens and tablecloths and embroidered cotton pillowcases (my latest love), we found a display of vintage coats to go through.  We found some beauties.  We found one that we loved so much that we brought it home for Emma, who was going to see the ballet, Swan Lake, tonight.  She ended up liking it so much she wore it.

She's fun to shop for...her little size-4 self.  She likes all things vintage and she is known to wear long gloves and hats to church.  And she can wear any height of heel....and can run in them if she wants to.

So that was our Friday afternoon.  I'm glad to be home and out of the snowstorm that's rolling in.

Have a great weekend!

I sure hope you heal fast. It must be hard not to smile.
Your daughter looks beautiful. I bet she looks really classy in her long gloves and heels. How retro!

When I was smaller (back in the good old days) tracking down vintage clothes to wear was a favorite past-time of mine! The coat IS beautiful!

(And so is the decoupaged shelf! What a great makeover...

You gave me my first laugh of the day...Church Lady! LOL!I think I'll grab that picture and use it as my profile picture! Can't be any worse than my real one.
I'm so sorry about your mouth hurting...ouch...and to try not to smile would be tough...too bad it couldn't have happened to some grouch who never smiles. Hope you heal fast!
Is that your daughter in the picture? She's beautful! I thought it was picture of a model from some magazine you pulled in.
I wish we had a snow storm here but fat chance. I used to live up North and I really miss the snow especially now that I don't have to go out in it if I don't choose to.
I'm still salivating over that bookcase and I have one similar in shape that I picked up at a garage sale this summer and thanks to you I know exactly what I'm going to do with it! While you're recuperating I'm going to go look at your past posts as I am a new follower. What a great blog! Thank you!

Keep warm and take your time to heal. Hope you feel better in the coming days.

Tell me more about the hand-embroidered pillow cases . . . sounds exciting.

Love the photo of the bedroom and linens. Looks so comfortable.

Emma is darling.
