Inspiration for the Holiday

I have been browsing around again and came across some things that inspire me....

I really like the small tree....

Who doesn't feel warmer just from looking at this photo...

Another small tree...I wonder if I can convince my family to go with smaller this year...

A warm scene with enough red to keep me happy

I really liked the chairs....by the fire....mmmm...

I love this work by Kim Naumann..
Love the Aga!
I love handmade gifts
I have so many ideas for this year's Christmas.  I feel very drawn toward keeping things small.  I want to stay focused on personal gifts and avoid as much as possible the mainstream retail scene.

I have friends who have decided that in their large family this year they are going with nothing new for gifts.  They have committed to going with either second-hand or homemade.  I thought that was genius.  I know that I have many craigslist purchases that I love a lot more than anything found in a big box retail store.

Over the years I have made many gifts and received many handmade gifts that I remember fondly.

There are so many ideas out there for giving something ordinary a makeover and making it extraordinary.  I have picked up things at Goodwill and completely changed the look with a 2 dollar can of spray paint.  There are so many brilliant ideas out there in blog land...or on pinterest...you could browse all day!

So what about you?  Are you making any gifts this year?
